SOUTH SALT LAKE — A woman who met up with a man in Salt Lake City to potentially buy a pair of shoes ended up being kidnapped at gunpoint, police say.

On Wednesday, a 24-year-old woman agreed over social media to meet a man near 255 S. West Temple about purchasing some shoes from him. The woman said she recognized the man as someone she knew from several years ago.

Police may have discovered source of the “bags and bags” of money in wall of Joel Osteen’s church

The “bags and bags” of money found stashed in a bathroom wall at televangelist Joel Osteen’s megachurch have been linked to a 2014 theft from a safe at the Houston facility.

The cash, checks and money orders were discovered on Nov. 10 by a plumber who removed tile and insulation from the wall while fixing a loose toilet. The plumber’s discovery came seven years Lakewood Church reported that $200,000 in cash and $400,000 in checks had been stolen from the safe.

Police Say ‘Serial Shoplifter’ Took Jewelry Worth $200,000

Authorities in Kentucky have arrested a man they believe stole jewelry worth more than $200,000 from department stores.

The Georgetown Police Department took Michael Reid, 36, into custody on Saturday, WAVE3 reports.

It’s believed that he has “been involved in jewelry thefts at other Kohl’s and similar stores in Louisville, Lexington, and Richmond,” according to the department.

Reid has been charged with theft by unlawful taking of more than $10,000.

He was being held at the Scott County Detention Center.

Police say they went in and seized thousands of cannabis edibles, packaging and labelling materials at a North Delta illegal cannabis extraction lab.

Police recover over 5,000 bags of heroin during traffic stop

DELMAR, Md. – Police say a traffic stop led to the recovery of more than 5,000 bags of heroin/fentanyl earlier this week.

On Tuesday, Wicomico County Sheriffs deputies were in the area of Route 13 in Delmar when they observed a black Chevy Cruze with Texas temporary registration in the area of Route 13 and Stage Road. A traffic stop was initiated between Stage Road and Foskey Road on Route 13. The vehicle continued to travel at a slow speed on the shoulder with its hazard lights before eventually stopping on E. Chestnut Street.
