The Fall 2021 Jewelry Trend Report

Spring 2022 is a body-con season for clothes and some types of jewelry. Body chains adorned bare midriffs and were threaded through cutouts and under corsets, while arm bands drew attention to the biceps. At the same time, both hoop earrings and chokers grew to enormous proportions, and chainlink for women, as well as men, blew up too. Necklaces were sometimes layered but most pile-ups involved rings and stacks of bangles, often in rainbow-bright colors. The use of natural materials—wood, shells, stone—stood in direct contrast to the glitzy 1980s-style sets seen here and there.

Fringes continue to be popular (some

Goblincore: the fashion trend that embraces ‘chaos, dirt and mud’ | Fashion

Mushrooms, toads and moss might not be the most celebrated of nature’s creations, but thanks to goblincore, an aesthetic that is blossoming online as well as in forests, the danker, gnarlier side of nature is enjoying a moment in the sun.

According to the TikTok user @froggiecrocs, AKA Parker, who has more than 90,000 followers who tune in for his goblincore content, it “romanticizes the ugly, lesser appreciated parts of the natural world”. Its trappings include animal skulls and earthworms and its influences range from David Bowie in Labyrinth to the Twilight Saga. According to the trends expert

Haute Hijab

This week, Muslims around the world will finally be able to debut their finest abayas, salwar kameezes, kaftans and thobes they’ve been saving in the backs of their closets for three pandemic Eids. For a growing number who have rethought their fashion choices during that time, those glitzy, intricately woven pieces will be more sustainable.

Handmade DIY bead jewelry is back, providing a source of artistic and fashion expression with glossy-coated oblong shapes. While modern pieces are still campy, they have been rebranded as maximalist statements for those looking to accessorize while reminiscing their childhood.

The DIY Jewelry Trend Has Been Hijacked by High Fashion

Kidrogony is a term I heard said (and possibly coined) by our editor-in-chief Thom Bettridge on an editorial call recently. He used it to address the fact that people in high fashion seemed to be obsessed with dressing like children at the moment.

He’s not wrong. Miuccia Prada and Raf unveiled the latest installment of their powerful alliance this month, flitting between dark red Milan rooms and Sardinian beaches and sending striped baby rompers for adults down the runway.

Last year, Tyler, the Creator and Harry Styles wore Mary Janes on red carpets — a go-to choice of footwear for

Why Are We So Obsessed With Ugly Shoes? Trend Explained

Dr. Mair adds that this tendency to invest a garment with greater meaning is known as “essentialism,” or “an intangible property that makes an item unique.” In the case of clunky, bulbous styles like clogs, she says that some may believe them to send out a more welcoming message to others: “We tend to interpret round, curved shapes as soft, warm, and approachable, and jagged shapes as hard, cold, and potentially dangerous.”

How COVID Shaped Wedding Dress Trend Amongst Brides

In order to keep their initial wedding date, Charlie and Will were required to switch their indoor venue, which introduced Covid-related restrictions on table arrangements and bar access, and scale down their list of invitees from 120 people to 30. For Charlie, a change in attire swiftly followed suit. Instead of the vintage-inspired, beaded number she had originally ordered from Net-a-Porter for the occasion, she went for a minimalist design from H&M which had the potential to become the shorter style that, deep down, she says she wanted all along. She then altered the hem to land just above her
