Every year, I begin to wonder why we don’t change the name of summer to “dress season.” I own more summer dresses than there are days in the week, but I can’t be the only one who could easily live in them from June through September. While I’m not partial to one particular price point, I do find that I’m even more willing to lean into my dress-purchasing habit when I find one that feels like a steal — like the $15 dress I cannot stop pulling out of my closet.

For a summer dress to get my stamp of approval, style is key but fit is paramount. At 5-foot-2, I am by all accounts petite, so I favor midi dresses and those that fall just above my knee. With its drop waist, slightly ruffled hemline, and just-above-the-knee length, the A New Day Sleeveless Hem Knit Dress from Target looked like a dress I would love before it even arrived. I was not wrong, and neither were any of the 120 five-star reviewers.

“I love to be able to just throw a simple outfit on and go, and this is the outfit,” wrote one Target shopper. “You can dress it up or dress it down, and it works.”

Another said, “I love this dress. I have it in several colors. Perfect, easy to throw on in the summer, and the silhouette is adorable and put together.”

The ease of wearing the sleeveless dress starts with the fabric, which is a blend of cotton, polyester, and spandex. Cotton is a must in warm-weather clothing because it’s breathable and lightweight enough to wear no matter how high temperatures soar. Plus, the spandex offers just enough stretch that allows the dress to hang nicely once it’s on.

In addition to the style and fabric, I also love that this frock is machine-washable. I favor no-fuss pieces in my wardrobe, and my go-to $15 dress fits the bill. The moment it’s dry, I’m already plotting the next day I can wear it.

It’s available in 10 colorways and sizes extra small to 4X.  I own the dress in light purple — which I like to pair with these leopard print sandals — but I’m already eyeing the light orange, red, and black. And at just $15 apiece, I have no problem with scooping up one dress too many.
